Inside The Box
NVIDIA has created the EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super KO gaming graphics card as a variant to their popular model of the same name. There are some differences between the two in regard to pricing and specifications, which we’ll cover below. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 is an excellent option for those who want a more economical option than NVIDIA’s highest-end cards such as the TI lineup.
But does it offer good enough performance to please gamers looking for more from their purchase? In this review, we put NVIDIA’s new offering through its paces with our own benchmarks and tests. What did we find? Read on to find out!
As noted above, there are some differences between EVGA’s standard version of the card (reviewed here) and what they’re now calling their Supermodel. The most obvious is the price; the original card was retailing at $499 while now you can pick up a supermodel (the very term supermodel makes me cringe) for $419.
We’ve got some benchmarks to share that should help you decide whether it’s worth splurging for EVGA’s new model. We were pleasantly surprised by the frame rates achieved when testing at 4K resolution.
For some titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Hitman 2, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, we were getting well over 60 FPS when running these games maxed out with anti-aliasing enabled. For another title like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, it wasn’t quite hitting that mark but still managed around 45 FPS which would be plenty enough for many players’ tastes.
Appearance & Design
The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super is a huge upgrade from the old model. For one, it is 3cm shorter than its predecessor, which is really nice for someone who doesn’t have a lot of space on their desk and needs to put something vertical in front of the card to allow airflow around it. Plus, the card’s 2.5 slot height means that if you’re looking for an option to fit in an unusually tight spot, this is one you’ll want to look at.
As with most high-end graphics cards, there are no fan intakes on the card itself (a single exhaust fan) but thankfully, EVGA has also included two fans in the packaging that can be affixed to the outside of your case instead. These fans provide some much-needed extra airflow for both internal components and your GPU so I would highly recommend them if you don’t already have any other form of cooling. The backplate looks good and feels well-made.
It even comes with some textured anti-slip material on the reverse side so as long as you have something to grip onto when installing it, you shouldn’t need any additional tools – just a couple of minutes of time. Speaking of installation, all the necessary drivers are preinstalled so setup was pretty straightforward.
The HDMI port supports 4K@60Hz as well as 7.1 surround sound via HDMI cable out, which is a definite plus for those gamers who prefer to use a TV or monitor with HDMI ports instead of DVI ports (although DVI ports are available). Lastly, NVIDIA ShadowPlay is also preinstalled for capturing gameplay footage without any fuss or hassle!
In terms of performance, EVGA’s new GeForce RTX 2070 Super card is great for 1080p gaming. No matter what you’re playing – from Fortnite to Dragon Age: Inquisition – you’ll be able to play at high or ultra graphics settings without skipping a beat, so long as your monitor can support those resolutions.
The fans are really quiet too, so you can hear what’s going on in-game as opposed to just hearing how loud your graphics card is! I was really impressed with how smooth and seamless the gameplay was. Even though I didn’t get the chance to try out any VR games yet, judging by my experience so far I think it will work really well with my Vive headset.
I love how customizable EVGA’s control panel is. There are lots of options and sliders for tweaking things like FPS, shadow quality, texture quality, resolution scaling, and more, not to mention hotkeys for quick access to preset modes like Gamer Mode or OC Mode.
Connectivity & IO
EVGA’s new GeForce RTX graphics card, the 2070 Super KO, is a beefed-up version of their already quite successful base model. With an updated cooler and motherboard design this card aims to both perform at high levels and be cost-effective for enthusiasts who don’t want to spend top dollar on every upgrade.
The connectivity and IO offer gamers more than they could ever need. It comes with three DisplayPort 1.4 outputs, one HDMI 2.0b output, and one DL-DVI output. It also has dual USB 3.1 Gen2 ports as well as two legacy USB ports which can support additional 4K monitors or VR headsets via an included adapter cable.
All of these different ports are placed on the front side for convenience so that your gaming setup can remain tidy if you decide to use them all! On the backside of the card, there is a second fan and heat pipe to help cool it down even further. Plus, when you purchase your GPU from Amazon in North America, it will come with a free download code for Battlefield V Deluxe Edition digital content pack (a $59 value).
One of these new features is its Rapid Packed Math which can help users that use or develop games with ray tracing technologies. In layman’s terms, Rapid Packed Math allows your GPU to perform faster ray-tracing calculations by using 16 FP16 (half-precision) for 48 CUDA cores during one clock cycle and 32 FP16 for 96 CUDA cores in a single clock cycle!
Test Setup
We want to get this review started with a brief overview of the test setup we used. All testing was done on an Intel Core i7-7700K CPU overclocked to 4.2GHz across two channels using a Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 at 3000MHz for memory. We also ran our benchmarks with the GPU cooler removed for maximum performance but left it on for comparative numbers and noise levels.

With all that said, I’m going to cut straight to my final thoughts. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super is everything you could ask for from a graphics card, with high-quality components and excellent performance.
It doesn’t cost much more than other comparable options, either – making it an easy choice if you’re looking to upgrade your rig! The only thing I might have liked better would be if the card had support for PCI Express 3.0×16 lanes, though this should still provide enough bandwidth for even multiple cards (should you so choose). Other than that, no complaints!

As the market for high-end graphics cards heats up, EVGA is looking to fight the intense competition with its new RTX 2070 Super K O gaming graphics card. The card comes equipped with a factory to overclock, custom cooling, and amazing RGB lighting. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super K O GPU has an MSRP of $719.99 but can be found on Amazon at a discounted price of $719.00 with Prime Shipping included.
EVGA’s GeForce RTX 2070 Super K O has impressed us with a GPU score of 12,816 on 3DMark Time Spy. This is pretty solid for a graphics card that is powered by NVIDIA’s latest Turing architecture. It does so while only consuming 214 watts of power thanks to EVGA’s great power-efficient design.
Overall, I was able to achieve a score of 12,779 points with 4K resolution and ultra-quality settings. This marks an improvement of 32% over reference results on a test system featuring an Intel Core i7-8700K clocked at 5 GHz (Gaming Mode).
Benchmark – Unigine Heaven @ 4K, 5K, Ultra + Extreme Section: Conclusion & Closing Thoughts: The EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Super K O is a solid graphics card that is designed to compete against AMD’s new Radeon VII. In most tests, it manages to give you higher frame rates at better quality settings.
